A Can of Worms: Fearless Conversations with Toddlers

(3 credit hours) Level 1   CDA 2, 3    CC 4   Audience – Infants/Toddlers In, A Can of Worms, Nick Terrones provides guidance and support for having fearless conversations with toddlers. When we are asked uncomfortable questions we often think that “keeping the can closed” by avoiding the complex conversations is easier for the child and adult. However, Nick Terrones explains that “opening the can of worms” can provide adults opportunities to expand conversations with children, innovate teaching, engage different perspectives into conversation, and empower children. Nick Terrones has made having these conversations easy, by explaining how you respond can help interpret a child’s curiosity and help them to better understand the world. Participants are responsible for obtaining the books either from the public library or by purchasing their own books.
